Burial Ground

Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map as polygonal area (c. 40m E-W; c. 45m N-S) planted with trees and named 'Grave Yard'; shown as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1905 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps and named 'Burial Ground'. In pasture, on gentle SW-facing slope. Circular area (42m N-S; 40m E-W) enclosed by low earthen bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.1m). Pedestrian entrance through break (Wth 2m) in bank to SW. Interior surface uneven and overgrown; some grave markers noted; earliest legible inscription dated 1880. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
