Lisnamarve ringfort in County Cork held about eight rough headstones nearly a metre high when Bowman visited in 1934, marking grave sites inside an ancient defensive earthwork. Those stones have vanished without trace, leaving only the faint possibility that a church once stood on the northern side to serve the dead buried within. The place retains its quiet danger because memory itself has been buried, forcing imagination to populate the empty ground where human loss once stood visible.

In ringfort (12379) named 'Lisnamarve' on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Bowman (1934, 189) noted here 'about 8 rough headstones, c. 1ft high mark grave-sites.' No burial markers now evident within ringfort. Early Christian burial ground, likely 6th to 10th century. Its association with a ringfort and possible church site suggests a local centre of settlement and worship.
