Bawn in Darver — Report the wrong picture

Darver castle (LH011-096----) occupies the NW side of a bawn, of which nothing else remains except the gatehouse (LH011-096002-). This is an ivy-covered structure with a barrel-vault over the entrance avenue to the castle. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 16 November 2015

Darver Castle was built in the 15th or 16th century by an as-yet-unidentified local Gaelic or Anglo-Irish lord. It is remembered for its well-preserved gatehouse and bawn, which illustrate the defensive architecture of the medieval period in Ireland.
