On the NE facing slope of high ground in mountainous area. Ring-barrow consisting of a circular area (diam. 7m N-S ; 7.5m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3m; max. H 0.5m) with no evidence of an inner or external fosse. Site very overgrown at time of visit making examination difficult. Several large boulders can be seen protruding from the surface of the sites interior. One of a group of five barrows (OF037-008002/003/004/005-). According to local tradition these barrows are located on a hilltop which was the inauguration site of the O’Flanagans of Cinél Arga (Feehan 1979, 143). It is possible that these burial mounds form part of a ritual landscape associated with this inauguration site.

Explorer Tom The graveyard in Letter is mostly an earth bank with no visible gravemarkers or much else to see. Its plan for retirement was clearly to fade into the background before anyone noticed it existed. Hum something sad nearby, it adds atmosphere to the emptiness.

Explorer Tom Pigeonstown House is hiding an older house behind its modern face, which is very dramatic for a farm building. Someone wrote a bad poem about it that rhymed 'stone' with 'phone'. Best enjoyed with a bit of imagination.

Explorer Tom Mill in Cadamstown is where the Vikings got lost looking for a bathroom, according to local rumour. It milled flour and spades back in 1604, which is either genius or complete nonsense. Perfect spot to ponder how much flour one spoon could hold.
