Ballyglass Castle

Archaeological place

What is recorded here

Ballyglass Castle reduced to a grassy mound seven metres long on a west-facing slope in Ballyglass Middle, County Galway, still overlookes the bogland its inhabitants once watched. Local story names Nuala na meadoige, mother of David Burke, as a former resident whose dagger-bearing reputation became notorious before the details faded. A holy well lies about 150 metres west, hinting that the place served both defence and devotion before its stones and timbers vanished.
Ballyglass Castle is recorded as a archaeological place in County Galway. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
