Ballybarrack House in Ballybarrack greets you with eight-sided gateposts and spearheads across both the gates and railings. Eight sides to the welcome, and every one of them is ‘State your business.’
Cast-iron entrance, built c. 1860, comprising pair of octagonal-profile piers with moulded caps and finials, flanking double-leaf spear headed gates and flanked by spear headed railings set on limestone plinths. House of architectural interest to site, not accessible at time of survey.
A fine entrance which heralds the presence of a fine house within the grounds. Well-designed and executed, the entrance makes a notable addition to the roadside.
