Windmill in Unknown Townland

Windmill

What is recorded here

Unknown Townland, Dublin: the windmill still stands inside Guinness brewery at Thomas Street and Watling Street, recorded by 1757. It is not a lost ruin but a working landmark swallowed by a larger industry. The mill may have ground grain for the city or the brewery itself, its sails turning above streets that have since become famous for beer rather than flour.
There is a windmill on the grounds of Guinness brewery at the junction of Thomas Street and Watling Street which was in existence at least as early as 1757 (De Courcy, 1996, 422).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
