This site was entered as DU017-014---- under Dublin County Borough in 1992. It was not included in the 1997 RMP revision. It has been re-numbered in the revision (Geraldine Stout, 01 October 07). The street name 'Sandymount Castle Avenue' indicates the previous existence of a castle or a castellated house of post-1700 date. The precise location of any pre-1700 castle in the townland of Sandymount has not been identified.
