Wedge tomb in Céim Chorrbhuaile

On SW-facing slope on E side of Owengarriff River valley, a tributary of River Lee. Monument partly buried in bog and used as dump for field clearance material. Comprises gallery (L 2.1m; Wth c. 0.9m) aligned ESE-WNW, represented by two sidestones to N, three sidestones to S and inset backstone at E end. Gallery covered by two overlapping roofstones. No outer walling visible and no indications of surrounding mound. Wedge-tomb (CO080-008----) stands 150m to NNW. Wedge tomb, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BCE). Its alignment and partially buried condition reflect typical features of wedge tombs found in the broader Munster region, significant for understanding early funerary practices and landscape use.
