What is recorded here
Mweelin Mountain still holds a wedge-shaped chamber above the Bunsheelin River valley, its stones tilted like a forgotten sentence. The chamber stretches a little over a metre and three-quarters, narrow enough for one person to lie down and large enough for several to gather around in darkness. A roofstone has slipped against the NE corner, and the chamber floor has been dug out, perhaps by curiosity or greed. What is left is not a complete tomb but a shape that once resisted time, waiting on a mountain slope for someone to remember why stones were set at an angle.
On SW-facing slope of S spur of Mweelin Mountain overlooking Bunsheelin River valley. Comprises chamber (L 1.3m; Wth c. 1m) aligned NE-SW, represented by single sidestones to NW and SE and inset backstone at NE end. Sidestones decrease in height from SW to NE. Displaced roofstone rests against NE corner. Two prostrate slabs to SE and two further slabs to W. Chamber area dug out. Traces of possible mound along NW side; some field clearance material along SE side.

Wedge tomb, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BCE). Its orientation and construction reflect a regional tradition of megalithic tombs in the Irish uplands, significant for understanding funerary practices and settlement patterns of early farming communities.
