Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1880, comprising fluted cylindrical shaft with moulded base and bucket stand, fluted domed cap and spout. Finial missing. Set upon stone plinth with drain.
This hydrant exhibits well executed yet restrained, simple detailing which enlivens its utilitarian form. It serves as an important reminder of town life before the widespread provision of a piped water supply.
