Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, comprising fluted cylindrical shaft with raised horizontal banding and fluted domed cap with acorn finial. Spout and handle have been removed. A tap has been inserted and this pump is still in use. Manufacturer's mark to base. Set on the side of the road on a grass verge with some sandstone slabs remaining at its base.
This pump is attractively sited on the side of the road, set in sandstone slabs. It is of artistic importance having been erected as an aesthetic as well as functional piece, and is still used today.
