Water pump in Drumcondra has leaves cast around its spout, which is fierce ambition for a plant made of iron. It has secured the entire village’s water supply and still hasn’t grown an inch.

The banding to the shaft and the foliate decoration to the spout add artistic detailing to this functional object. Water pumps once played an important social and functional role in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries providing a communal water source.
