Cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, with banded shaft, foliate decoration to spout, straight handle and foundry mark.
The banding to the shaft and the foliate decoration to the spout add artistic detailing to this functional object. Water pumps once played an important social and functional role in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries providing a communal water source.
