Freestanding cast-iron water hydrant, c.1880, with fluted shaft having fluted cap with acorn finial.
The fluted casting provides artistic detail and this functional object is further enlivened by the acorn finial decoration. It makes an interesting contribution to the landscape and is a reminder of a time before the arrival of mains water supplies.
