Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c.1880. Circular banded shaft, wider fluted head with gadrooned domed cap, and spike pinnacle. Spout with raised rim and projecting bucket lip. Cow tailed handle pivoted on lug projecting from one side of head. Secured on concrete slab.

A fine cast-iron water pump located in a prominent site which would have once acted as a communal water source. The banding and fluting are well executed and, along with the curved handle, add artistic interest to this utilitarian object.
