What is recorded here

Marked as a tower on Petty's Down Survey map of 1654. Reputedly built by Coote, it apparently stood on an artificial platform beside a stream. No visible remains at ground level. (Davies 1948, 118-9) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Reputedly built by the Coote family in the 17th century, Castle, unclassified in Drumman, is remembered primarily from historical maps and local tradition, though no visible remains survive. Its mention in the 1654 Down Survey highlights its presence in early modern territorial records.
