Freestanding cast-iron "cow tail" waterpump, extant 1893. Now disused. Set in alcove in snecked limestone surround.

A "cow tail" waterpump representing an interesting example of cast-iron work making a pleasing, if largely inconspicuous visual statement in an urban street scene: meanwhile, a benchmark ("B?O") remains of additional interest for the connections with cartography and the preparation of maps by the Ordnance Survey (established 1824).
