What is recorded here

The precise location of a medieval watermill in the townland of Rawlesytown has not been identified. It was probably located along the S bank of the Camoge River to the N of Rawlesytown Castle (LI023-080----). The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that on the lands of Redmond Rawly, Margarett Rawly & Ellan Rawly there stood 'a Ruinous Castle [LI023-080---], 20 Cabbins & a Mil Seat' (Simington 1938, 108).
