D' Alton refers to a Sixteenth century watermill in the parish of Esker (D'Alton 1838, 645-6). This mill was granted in 1703 to Samuel Dopping together with its banks, floodgates and weirs (D' Alton 1838, 652). The exact location of this monument is unknown.
