What is recorded here

Freestanding cast-iron vent-pipe, erected c.1880, having decorative pedestal comprising moulded plinth with door, fluted column and cornice supporting column with cast-iron decorative cowling having metal mesh.
A fine example of the mass produced cast-iron vent pipes that were installed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Simple artistic details including fluting, plinth and a cornice enliven this otherwise utilitarian object.
