What is recorded here
Freestanding cast-iron vent pipe, c.1900, comprising profiled pedestal with moulded bands, and cylindrical shaft over having splayed saw tooth-profiled parapet. Road fronted on concrete footpath.
A vent pipe of significance for the associations with a sewage system developed in Castlecomer in the late nineteenth/early twentieth century. Raised elements together with a profiled parapet indicate the equal importance placed on aesthetic effects as well as functionality.
