Bridge in Ardra carries an inscribed stone plaque over a mere tributary of the Dinin. That’s a grand introduction for water that hasn’t even reached the main river yet. A man introducing himself like that in Castlecomer would be called Your Lordship until he died.

Single-arch rubble stone road bridge over river, c.1800. Random rubble stone walls with cut-limestone stringcourse supporting parapet having inscribed cut-limestone plaque, and cut-limestone coping. Single camber (segmental) arch with rock-faced limestone ashlar voussoirs, and squared rubble stone soffits. Sited spanning tributary of Dinin (Deen) River with grass banks to river.

An attractive bridge of civil engineering heritage significance forming an integral component of the architectural heritage of Castlecomer.
