Tumulus

On a low knoll in gently undulating pasture, with a long, gentle slope falling away to E and SE. A modern track runs from the main road to SW and passes SE and E of the site. A low, oval, grass-covered mound (H 1.4-1.7m; base diams. 21.2m NW-SE; 16.75m NE-SW; surface diams. 10m NE-SW; 4.4m NW-SE) has a large, earthfast, rectangular block of limestone (dims. traceable L 1.5m; Wth 0.4m) at SE, which may be a displaced kerbstone. Thorn bushes grow on the side of the mound S-SW and the area upslope of them has been poached by livestock, revealing a clay composition in that part of the mound.
