Situated on a very gentle SE-facing slope in rough, wet terrain. The site is called 'Tullaun' on both the 1st and latest ed. OS 6-inch maps which according to OS Name Books means 'the name of a remarkable mound' (O'Donovan et al. c. 1840). The site is difficult to assess as it is heavily overgrown with scrub and has been quarried into. It appears to be enclosed by a high bank surviving in the E sector (Wth 2m; int. H 1.66m; ext. H 0.8m) but this may have been altered as a result of later disturbance. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
