Altore Wedge Tomb is a wedge-shaped gallery grave built around 2250 BC in County Roscommon, Ireland. Its south-facing entrance still holds two metre-tall facade stones beneath a spanning roofstone, preserving the shape of a chamber that stopped being a home for living people centuries before written record. A fragment from another tomb once appeared in the Dominican priory before vanishing, suggesting these stones have kept moving through human memory even when their meanings are forgotten.

A fragment with two panels from another tomb was also present in the Dominican priory (RO039-055001-) (Hunt, 1974, vol. 1, 217, No. 214), but it is now missing. (Bradley and Dunne 1985, 103) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
