What is recorded here

Walter Wellesley, Bishop of Kildare, lies beneath a limestone canopy held by angels carrying his cross-marked shields. His right hand still raises in blessing while dragons, saints and green men crowd the edges of the broken panels. A chubby Sheela na Gig crouches at the corner, feet pulled back and navel pointing down, as if guarding the bishop from the underside of history. The tomb jumped from Great Connell to Kildare Cathedral in 1971, reassembled from fragments that had once been buried in a graveyard wall.
