What is recorded here

Possible holy well annotated in Gothic script as 'Tober Luibe' on the 1838 ed. OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 13 July 2018
Linked to Saint Libe (Luibe), a lesser-known early Irish saint, the well may have been associated with healing traditions, particularly for eye ailments, as the name 'Luibe' is sometimes connected with 'lub' (meaning smooth or soft), possibly referencing skin or vision cures. The Gothic script annotation suggests a continued reverence for the site during the 19th century.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
