What is recorded here
Freestanding telephone box, installed c.1950. Painted pre-cast concrete roof and walls with fixed multiple-pane windows to side (north, south) elevations. Replacement glazed timber door to front.
This fine telephone box is an increasingly rare example of a mid twentieth-century telephone box. Such items of street furniture were once common throughout Ireland and performed an important social function prior to the wide spread availability of domestic phone lines.
