What is recorded here
Reported (5-10-2021) by Mr Aidan Harte, Project Co-ordinator, Leitrim Sweathouse Project, but not yet inspected. Not recorded by the OS. According to the landowner (pers. comm. P. Reilly, August 2021) the sweathouse stood at the end of ‘the sweathouse field’, c. 50m from the shore of Drumshanbo Lough but all that survived was ‘a pile of stones buried in the undergrowth’. Mr. Reilly has penned an article on the monument: ‘The Sweathouse Field’, in Drumgownagh School: Reunion and Heritage Book. (2013, published locally).
