What is recorded here

The site of 'Stuckerd (Pillar Stone) & Mound' (SL041-038004-) is indicated on the 1914 OS 6-inch map c. 50m SE of Kilmactranny graveyard (SL041-038002-). There are no visible remains of the stone. Wood-Martin (1883-4, 448) refers to it as 'a large stuckerd, or pillar-stone, on the summit of an earthen mound' close to Kilmactranny church (SL041-038001-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
