Structure

A dense bed of twigs with a small amount of light brushwood (Wth 1.42m; D 0.09m). The surface of the site is level and it is deepest at its centre, where the brushwood occurs, reducing to 0.03m in depth at the sides. The site is in moderately humified Sphagnum peat. This is one of five closely situated sites along a 6m length of the drain including SMR OF010-199---- partially underlying the site in the drain face on the N side and SMR OF010-198---- 0.1m above, 0.42m further to the NE. SMR OF010-200---- and SMR OF010-201---- are to the NE. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
