Structure

A dispersed band of mixed brushwood, roundwoods and a possible stake (Wth 4.95m min.; D 0.32m). Generally, the components are very widely spaced and irregularly laid but there are some clusters of material and the roundwoods appear to be parallel. The stake is set at 85°. Woodworking with a metal tool is evidenced by an incomplete pencil point and a chisel point. The site is in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous roots and occasional Eriophorum. SMR OF010-250----, to the NE, is adjacent to this site and is similar in composition. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
