Structure

A deposit of brushwood and roundwoods in the base of a possible erosion gully (Wth 2.95m; D 1.04m). The gully is approximately V-shaped and five irregularly laid and unevenly spaced roundwoods (Wth 0.81m; D 0.52m) are located at its base. The roundwoods (diam. 0.065-0.1m) are in a poor condition. At the NE end of the gully, is a compact deposit (Wth 0.53m; D 0.13m) of ten pieces of unevenly spaced light brushwood with occasional twigs, laid 1-2 pieces deep. One piece of brushwood has evidence for branch-trimming performed with a metal tool. Wood species include willow, hazel, alder, birch and oak. The wooden deposits are situated in moderately to well-humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. The gully cuts through well-humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum.
