Derryville bog in County Kilkenny holds a single roundwood, one point four metres long and oriented north-south. Men walking the peatland in 2006 found it exposed on the surface, poor in preservation but still distinct enough to mark. The bog had hidden the wood for generations, then gave it back only when human feet crossed that exact strip of earth.

Discovered in Derryville bog in 2006 during a fieldwalking survey of the Bord na Móna industrial peatlands in the Littleton group of bogs (Licence nos. 06E0696-06E0706). A single roundwood (L 1.4m; diam 0.1m) orientated N-S and exposed on the field surface. It was in a poor state of preservation. (Whitaker 2007, Catalogue no.
