Derryville bog in County Kilkenny holds a broken plank and six parallel wooden rods, dated to 2470-2140 BC. The structure emerged during a 2006 fieldwalking survey, preserving the shape of human hands working wet earth thousands of years before written memory. It is not a grand hall or named shrine, but a fragment of making: someone measured, cut, aligned and buried wood in a landscape that later swallowed the reason.

Discovered in Derryville bog in 2006 during a fieldwalking survey of the Bord na Móna industrial peatlands in the Littleton group of bogs (Licence nos. 06E0696-06E0706). A plank fragment (L 0.7m; Wth 0.3m) orientated NW-SE and in a poor state of preservation visible on the field surface. Adajcent to the N were 6 parallel brushwood and roundwood elements (diams. 0.04-0.07m) which were better preserved as they were located 0.25m below the field surface.
