Stoup (present location) in Patrickswell

Medieval stoup (dims. 0.34m x 0.36m x H 0.26m; bowl dims. 0.21m x 0.2m x D 0.08m) which was originally located at Mainister-na-galliagh church (LI032-043002-) and was removed to its current location where it has been built into a stone pier on the W side of the entrance from the grounds of St Patrick's R.C. Church to the modern cemetery built onto the S side. A 17th century sundial (LI032-349----) originally from Lisadell, Co. Sligo has been inserted into the top of this stone pier (pers. comm. parish priest St Patrick's Church, 7 November 2022). A second stoup of post-medieval date now used as a flower planter is visible in the E quadrant of the church grounds just inside the E gateway. According to the parish priest this was taken from an earlier 18th century R.C. Church located nearby and moved to the present location. Compiled by: Caimin O’Brien Date of upload: 9 November
