Stone circle

In flat pasture at NW foot of Miskish mountain c. 400m from coast, on N side of Beara peninsula. Two orthostats, 1.3m apart; four or five prostrate slabs indicate circle c. 8.5m in diameter. Erect stones have marked entrance. W stone measures 1.1m by 0.45m and is 2.1m H. Second stone measures 1.3m by 0.45m and is 1.7m H. Likely dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this stone circle may have had ceremonial or astronomical significance, common to such sites in the Beara peninsula. Local folklore sometimes associates these stones with ancient druids or fairy gatherings.
