Stone Circle

Stone circle

What is recorded here

Situated on a slight S-facing slope with extensive views SE-W across Lough Gill and Sligo Town. Depicted on the 1912 edition of the 6'' OS 6-inch map as a circular area (diam. c.8m). The stone circle has been removed and an E-W orientated laneway now traverses the site. Three roughly rectangular boulders (av. dims L 1.5m; Wth 1m; T 3.5m) located to the S of the lane may be derived from the original stone circle. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
