Stone circle

In reclaimed pasture, c. 4km E of Kenmare. This stone circle (diam. 2.65m) consists of five upright stones (L 0.85-1.2m; T 0.4-0.55m; H 0.3-0.8m). The interior is c. 0.15m higher than the surrounding ground level. The axial stone is the smallest of the group and has a slight external bevel on its upper surface. Two mature trees grow in the interior. There is an anomalous stone group (KE093-026001-) c. 220m to the NNE, a radial-stone cairn (KE093-025002-) c. 200m to the SSW and a stone row (KE093-088----) c. 250m to the E. Likely dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this small stone circle may have functioned as a ceremonial or ritual site, possibly aligned with solar or lunar events.
