steps, Sligo Road

Twenty limestone steps descending from main road to the bank of the River Shannon, built c.1850. Steps flanked by snecked limestone walls with tooled rounded coping. Cast-iron railings surmount coping to bottom section of steps.

These steps, to the south-west of the bridge, are executed in a similar style adding uniformity within the site. The finely-tooled stonework, together with the undisturbed setting of these steps, creates an attractive setting.
