Standing stone depicted and named 'A great stone' on Bateman map (1716-1717, no. 28) at SW corner of townland. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
