Standing stone

What is recorded here

Killeenleagh in duhallow By. once held two standing stones. The local man J. O'Sullivan broke and removed one, leaving the field empty and the exact spot forgotten. Stone and memory both vanished when the owner chose to clear the land.
One of two standing stones (10039) recorded by Bowman (1934, 521) in this townland; 'In J. O'Sullivan's, broken and removed'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
