Kilmore By. and Orery still frame the Ballyclogh stone, a rectangular pillar standing one metre tall in level pasture. Its long axis points east-west, cutting across the grass like a quiet arrow thrown into time. People may have watched storms, marked borders, or simply remembered that some places must keep shape even when every other detail fades.
