Situated in marshy ground on a gentle N/NW-facing slope. A natural spring recently provided with stone housing. The well is traditionally associated with the baptism of children and the pattern days were on the 24th to the 26th of June (OS Name Books). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). St. Nicholas Well, Tornant Lower is traditionally associated with the baptism of children and was visited during pattern days held on the 24th of December, likely linked to the feast day of St. Nicholas.
