Freestanding barn style gable-fronted double-height Roman Catholic church, built c.1820. Comprising five-bay nave having pitched roof porch to front (west) and recent flat-roofed sacristy extension to rear (east). Pitched slate roofs to nave and porch, having cast-iron and uPVC rainwater goods. Carved limestone bellcote with cast-iron bell surmounted by cross finial to west of nave and cut limestone cross finials to east gable. Cast-iron cross finial to porch. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls. Pointed arch window openings with render sills and lead-lined stained glass windows to side (north, south) elevations of nave. Paired pointed arch window openings with shared stone sill to front elevation of nave, set within rendered pointed arch recess having lead-lined stained glass windows. Pointed arch door opening to porch having double-leaf timber battened door and stained glass overlight. Plastered barrel ceiling to interior, carved marble altar furniture to east and carved timber gallery to west. Rendered boundary wall to south having square-profile lined-and-ruled gate piers, cast-iron gates and railings. Set within own grounds on roadside.
Located in the centre of Carriganimmy village, this building is a focal point in the surrounding landscape. The modest appearance of the structure is typical of Roman Catholic church of its time, though it was subsequently renovated. The pointed arch openings, bell cote, stained glass windows and cast-iron railings are noteworthy features.
