What is recorded here

On a gentle N-facing slope at the base of Kilknockan Hill, in pasture. The church (TS070-011002-) and graveyard formed part of a settlement with earthworks (TS070-011003-) in the field to the SW-W-N and a castle (TS070-011001-), which is no longer visible, 50m to the WNW. According to the OS Namebook (O'Donovan) in 1840 there was a graveyard attached to the church. This is indicated on the 1st (1840) ed. and 2nd (1903-04) ed. 6-inch OS maps as an irregular area extending E of the church 11.4m (OS map dims. c. 47.7m N-S; c. 34.6m E-W) outlined by a dashed line and annotated ‘Site of Grave Yard’ and ‘Grave Yard (Disused)’ respectively. The dashed line suggests that the graveyard was not enclosed. There is no visible trace of a graveyard, marker stones or headstones above ground.
