Ballynilard castle stood on a low rise above a northern stream, watching the land in every direction before men stripped its stones in the early 1800s. The grassland still holds the shape of that loss, smooth and unmarked, while a holy well and church wait below like forgotten witnesses. What remained was vision, not wall; the castle gave up its bones but kept its view.

In grassland atop low rise of ground overlooking stream 50m to N with good views in all directions. Holy Well (TS066-065----) 200m to SSW and church (TS066-068001-) 370m to S. No surface remains visible. According to the OS letters the stones of the castle were removed from the location in the early 1800s (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 3, 37).
