End-of-terrace five bay two-storey former national school, dated 1847. Now in use as house. South end bay appears to be later addition and is slightly recessed from rear wall. Pitched slate roof, hipped to south end, with grey clayware ridge tiles, and red brick chimneystack with brick cogging detail. Coursed limestone rubble walls with ashlar sandstone block-and-start quoins to south end, and red brick stretcher-bond string course above ground floor openings. Stone plaque over south doorway inscribed 'Rockcorry N.S. Estb. 1847'. Square-headed window openings with red brick block-and-start surrounds and flat-arch lintels, replacement timber six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows, and stone sills. Square-headed door openings to two bays, with red brick surrounds and voussoirs, and replacement timber doors with overlights.

This former school displays good quality masonry in this stone and brickwork detail. The building's form and detailing are typical of many small towns and villages and it pleasantly terminates the row of which it forms part. Its historical and social significance is enhanced by having being the place at which J.R. Gregg, the inventor of shorthand, began his education.
