Round tower in Aghmacart

Situated in a low lying area. Reference to a possible round tower or bell tower here (Roe, Helen M. 75). No visible surface remains. In 1151 AD according to the Annals of the Four Masters at Achadh Meic Airt (Aghmacart) where 'in the cloightheach of this church, Eochaid Ui Chuinn, the Fear Leighinn (lector) were burnt to death' (H. A round tower in Aghmacart, possibly built in the 12th century, is recorded in the Annals of the Four Masters as being at Achadh Meic Airt in 1151 AD; no visible remains survive, but it may have been associated with an early Christian settlement.
