Rossaganny Grave Yard

Burial ground

What is recorded here

On a slight rise in grassland. This well-preserved subrectangular graveyard (42.5m E-W; 36.5m N-S) is enclosed by a modern stone wall. Most of the headstones date to the 19th and 20th centuries and the earliest one noted was dated 1801. Some uninscribed grave-markers are also visible and a small group in the W sector are similar in appearance to those found in children's burial grounds. However, locally it was believed that these marked the ends of graves. There is an early cross-slab (GA132-026001-) in the N half. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 2 April 2020
